RT-AX88U Pro with Merlin - Basically an improved hardware version of the RT-AX88U????

I've just spent the past hour searching and reading threads as it pertains to running Merlin on an AX88U Pro, some more entertaining than others!

My question is fairly simple (I think) and pertains to the conclusion I believe I've drawn.

Is it true that putting Merlin on an RT-AX88U Pro basically turns it into an RT-AX88U with "improved hardware"?

If so, this is what I want! I've uncovered a few things in the PRO firmware that I do not care for and would like to eliminate as the other routers in my friends network are "non-PRO" AX86Us.

RT-AX88U_PRO Asuswrt-Merlin vs Asuswrt

I got a Asus RT-AX88U Pro recently and flashed its stock firmware to 3.0.0.6.102_33309 dated 24/08/19. However, the Asuswrt-Merlin version is 3004.388.8_2, which is close to the non-pro version, ASUS RT-AX88U with stock firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24209 dated 2024/03/29. It looks to me the 3004...

You get the newer hardware features without the instability immaturity of the new 3006 firmware. 3004.388 is mature and stable, without any Pro-specific software features that aren’t ready for prime time yet.
