Hi all

I have a problem with my RT-AX92U setup (two units). Almost every day, my iPhone XR loses the Internet connection. I've encountered this on other devices (MacBook Pro), but not so frequently.

I'm using the phone, and suddenly nothing loads like there is no Internet. But the connection to the WiFi is active and strong (there are 3 bars). The only way to restore the Internet connection is to disable and enable the WiFi connection manually. I can have this several times a day.

The iPhone is not far from the router, and I've never had this on my older network setup (Netgear R7000).

This is what I have in the logs:

Aug 29 15:25:54 wlceventd: wlceventd_proc_event(481): eth7: Disassoc F8:FF:C2:11:C4:D0, status: 0, reason: Disassociated because sending station is leaving (or has left) BSS (8)
Aug 29 15:25:54 wlceventd: wlceventd_proc_event(481): eth7: Disassoc F8:FF:C2:11:C4:D0, status: 0, reason: Disassociated because sending station is leaving (or has left) BSS (8)

Is this a bug or wrong settings in the router?

P.S. I'm using the latest stable release

Many thanks

Make sure your WIFI is set to fixed channels: 2.4 GHZ CH 1,6 or 11 @ 20 MHZ 5 GHZ set to non-DFS channel (CH 36 or 149)(think the AX can use 160 MHZ bandwidth) Use Dual Band SmartConnect and leave the rest of the WIFI settings at default.

iPhones have terrible wifi, the Xr and XS line use Intel Wifi chips, and they don't work for crap. My XS Max has an Intel wifi chip, and it's the only device that gives any trouble. It's poor on the home AiMesh, and it's worse on the UniFi system at work.

My granddaughter is living with us for while now and her iPhone Xr works great on my 2 Cisco WAP581 APs even using roaming. So I disagree with you. Fix your software.

Wow, what happened that made you so bitter, and also font of all knowledge despite having a sample size of one?

iPhones with Intel modems/WiFi are known to be inferior to the ones with Qualcomm modems. This is why the iPhone 12 will be going exclusively QC.

Still happening with the above configuration :(

The WiFi is active with all 3 bars, but no Internet connection.

Disabling roaming assistant in the wireless professional settings will help.

ASUS will never admit that their AiMesh is basically nothing than a glorified centrally managed repeater system.

AP steering doesn't work and their so-called smart connect is not an actual band steering mechanism.

I'm seeing a similar problem with a Surface Book 2, I think. I have 3x AX92U as a mesh (AP mode), and when the laptop connects to the primary node, it shows a good wireless connection but all its traffic gets dropped. Both the other nodes, no problem. The logs look like

I've tried everything I can think of on the laptop itself. On the router, I tried "binding" it to the next-closest node and within 20 seconds, traffic started getting through, but not before it dumped a screenful of

Code:
Nov 18 10:27:37 wlceventd: wlceventd_proc_event(474): eth6: Deauth_ind C4:9D:ED:XX:XX:XX, status: 0, reason: Class 3 frame received from nonassociated station (7)

into the logs. (That timestamp is right around when I set up the "binding" so maybe it's a normal part of the node-transfer process?)

As I was writing this, I started to see the same pattern in the logs again (Auth, Assoc, Deauth_ind, roughly every 15 seconds) but the MAC is for one of my Rokus. I haven't checked but I do wonder if it's going to be offline now.

I haven't tried the suggestion above, to change to a static channel, but all morning, the band in use (5-1) has been on Channel 36 (according to System Log -> Wireless) and I have "include DFS" unchecked under the wireless settings.

I've read other threads with similar error messages and the only other suggestion I've seen is to check for repeaters or competing APs. My ISP modem/router keeps turning its wifi setting back on (!), so yesterday I changed the SSID, which used to be the same, and the password, and turned it back off. I'm still seeing the strange behavior on the AX92U, so it can't be that, and I'm reasonably sure there's no other competing APs.

Thank you!

I've changed to fixed channels. So far so good..

If you can please take a look at my config:

The only downside I've noticed is that the speed on the 5GHz-2 is slower than before..
For 5Ghz-2, you try choose channel 100 and enable 160 MHz. Disable Wifi Agile Multiband, Target Wake Time and Protected Management Frames.
