I installed an RT-BE88U, installed the latest Merlin firmware on it (release 3006.102.2_2). During the wizard I choose the AP functionality, it then asks for an SSID for normal and IOT network, the latter cannot be skipped. Once up and running I want to define my own VLANs and delete the IOT one, however I can only switch it off, not remove it completely. Any way to do this (i did not find yet...)?
I accidentally found a way after some trial and error attempts: choose to configure manually, then choose AP mode, the wizard then presents you the wifi configuration (normal wifi + iot. Then press the back button of your browser, the layout changes to the way it is in the regular router interface and it will sk you for a username and password for access to the router, next screen: tadaaa it shows only normal Wi-Fi, not the IOT Also you get the option to configure 2.4G and 5G bands with different SSIDs (if you require). After the reboot the router is in "Router mode" though ...
I then simply put it in AP mode under Administration, got the wizard again (but only for the normal wifi VLAN, and I was done.
To me this would be the preferred way to set up a router or AP, without the ASUS defined IOT (which cannot be removed). @RMerlin: this would e a bug fix in my view (or you might see it as a feature request).
