I have an RT-BE88U. After a power cycle, nothing can connect to it via WiFi. I get wrong password from any device trying to connect. Yet, when I go into the router interface via an Ethernet connection the passwords still show as being stored correctly. If I go to the General/Network Map section and click apply under System Status it starts accepting logins again. I updated firmware and it still persists. I believe it was working after initial setup. Since then, I enabled AI protection and let it change some things. I am wondering if that may have caused the issue. I tried disabling AI protection but the issue is still there even without it being enabled. I haven't done a factory reset yet. I thought I would ask to see if anyone has ideas on what the issue may be before starting from scratch again. This is my first Asus router so it's certainly possible I am just missing something simple. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Haven’t had the problem here.

Maybe try a full reset without using any saved settings?

Same here, no problem with WiFi after a reboot.
Sometimes it happens to me with LAN with my PC, I think it might be a ARP issue, disabling and enabling again the LAN card fix it.

Could it be you are using 160MHz bandwidth on the 5.0 band, causing DFS to delay WiFi startup for ~10 minutes while it determines RADAR/DFS conditions? If so, try 80MHz bandwidth and a non-DFS control channel to not use DFS (no radio startup delay).

I have this issue with my RT-BE88U running stock firmware (originally 3.0.0.6.102_33921 now 3.0.0.6.102_33928). For various reasons, documented elsewhere on this forum, I have performed full resets multiple times but it has not made any difference.

I have a workaround. Every time I reboot the router, when it is back up and stable, I go to the 'professional' tab of the WiFi setup page and for both the 2.4GHz band and the 5Ghz band I:
  • Turn the WiFi radio off and apply the settings
  • Turn the WiFi radio on and apply the settings
My Wifi devices will then successfully connect.

It's a pain, and I wish I did not have to do it - but it works - provided that I am not using a WiFI connected device to perform the reboot 🤣

My router automatically upgraded itself to 3.0.0.6.102_37094 a couple of days back and must have rebooted as part of that (my dynamic ipv4 address and dynamic ipv6 prefix both changed at the same time) but I did not notice any failure to start the WiFi service correctly so maybe something has been done to address the issue.

Next time I get an opportunity, I shall perform a reboot to see, or confirm, whether on not the issue has been resolved (for me) with this firmware update.

I have just had an opportunity to reboot my router (without invoking cries of complaint from the rest of the household) and I can confirm that, for me at least, the stock 3.0.0.6.102_37094 firmware has resolved this issue.
