New RT-BE92U with updated firmware will not use AI Mesh over Ethernet wired backhaul. Instead it connects on the 2.4Ghz wireless at about 20mb/s instead of the 2.5gb/s directly wired ethernet. The access points are about 200ft apart. I also failed the BT10's to get the AI Mesh working. I'm back to the ET8's again.

Maybe report it to Asus via the feedback panel?

I recently got a RT-BE92U and I got AI-Mesh wired backhaul working.
Click on AI-Mesh, then System Settings [it doesn't look like it is a button!!]. You can select Ethernet Backhaul Mode. Pics attached.
Hope this works for you!

Today I can successfully connected the TUF Gaming AX3000 as AiMesh Node to RT-BE92U through both wired and 5GHz wireless. Both works great.

AiMesh nodes can be added wired from the start. I haven't had much trouble placing routers/RPs in their final places, connecting Ethernet, finding them through Add a Mesh Node function. If ever the router/RP is not detected, I'll bring it close enough to run Ethernet directly between the main router and new addition, again add via Ethernet, (shows as an Ethernet socket when found). If you need to then move it, turn it off, move, and reconnect Ethernet.
