New Around Here
Hi Guys,

as part of my ongoing project, I am following the advice of this website as created and managed by Padavan and his team: https://bitbucket.org/padavan/rt-n56u/wiki/EN/HowToConfigureEntware

Now, I have formatted the USB stick (16GB) to EXT2 (via windows), and started following the steps. The result now is this:

/home/root # opkg
-sh: opkg: not found
/home/root # opkg
-sh: opkg: not found
/home/root # help
Built-in commands:
------------------
. : [ [[ alias bg break cd chdir continue echo eval exec exit
export false fg hash help history jobs kill let local printf
pwd read readonly return set shift source test times trap true
type ulimit umask unalias unset wait

/home/root #

As you can see, when I say "help" it says OPKG doesnt even exist.

So I followed Google, and got to the bug report of github: https://bitbucket.org/padavan/rt-n56u/issues/690/sh-opkg-not-found

The issue was reported, but closed as "invalid" as it wasnt a helpdesk, and a redirect to this forum was placed for the issue reporter.

Can anyone assist, I tried a search and I couldnt find anything when I went to the main Padavan thread here on the Asus N pages?

I found the answer in the end.

The problem was having followed the configuration for Entaware as best I could, there was a missing step.

After creating the partition and ejecting the USB, you then mount again, but it didnt display .opt.

You may need to reboot your router like I did, before /opt would be visible.

It seems the /opt directory is critical in allowing opkg to run.
