No matter which firmware after 3.0.0.4.276 I flash to my rt-n16 i cant set the wireless channel to anything other than 0. Thie happens with stock or RMerlin.
As a matter of fact with the latest Asus firmware I have N/AC as an option.

Since you are coming from a really old firmware version, make sure you do a factory default reset and manually reconfigure everything after flashing.

I did. Even did mtd-erase -d nvram.
Why is it showing AC as an option?

I've seen that type of truncated Wireless page when I've use the 'back' button on my browser to get to that page (fixed by a refresh). But to me this indicates that there is possibly some strange caching going on for that page.

So, one thing to possible try is to clear your browser cache and make sure it's set to not cache pages for offline viewing.

I can try that, after the buckeye game but my wifi client can't pick up any signal from it when it is running the newer fw with the channel on 0.
I should mention also, I replaced the infamous bulging cap on this thing last night.
Flashed it while serial console was hiked up. I've flashed it doing flash -noheader : flas1.trx and also using the restoration utility.
No matter which method or using IE or Firefox same result.

Could have been an invalid nvram setting, especially if you experience the same issue using the stock firmware. Such an issue was responsible for instance for routers no longer showing a 5 GHz band on the webui.

I haven't tested any firmware on the RT-N16 in quite a few months. I'm currently busy with other things, so I won't have time to dig out the RT-N16 from the drawer to hook it up and test things out in the near future.

Under tools the bootloader says unknown.
The last firmware that has channel options is 3.0.0.4.374.35_4

That's normal. The information cannot be extracted from the bootloader (Asus wasn't using a bl_version setting back then).

No problems here on RT-N16 on wireless page.
I can select all available channels.

I even flashed another cfe onto it.
It won't show wireless mac on the status page either.
I don't know if erasing the wholeflash and flashing the cfe through jtag would make a difference or not.

I'll try that right now. I did have one of the dd-wrt K3.X builds on it yesterday before this trouble.

Thanks John. That seems to have done the trick.

RT-N16 using 48.3. I haven't come across any issues.
