I bought my second used rt-n56u from eBay. The first one was bricked.
This one seems to work except I can't get onto the Internet. The wan port lights up when I plug the cable into it but I never get an IP address.
I can access the GUI both wired and wirelessly, I just can't get Internet access.
Any clues?
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried resetting your modem?
Sorry if you already have....
Also, I have issues when using QOS with this router...
Try and test with it turned off....

Only things I can think of , off hand....

Hope you get it working!
Good Luck

I reset both, although I have never had to reset my modem when trying new routers, that includes an rt-n56u that I tried last year.
I reset it to factory defaults a few times in the GUI also through telnet.
I've tried padavan's fw on it also, which is on there at the moment.
Is Qos on by default?
The router administration page shows a cable connection with the wan port, it just has a blank, no ip.

Padavans firmware doesn't have QOS...
Asus firmware I believe is off by default....
Wish I could be of more help....
Just can't really think of anything else at the moment....
Good luck and ill post back if something comes to mind.

Does any one know If one of the lan ports can be reassigned to act as a wan port? Maybe with the padavan firmware?
