I've updated my router to the latest version from 378.55 and I noticed immediately major problems such as a huge instability of the configuration webpage.

Most of the pages are not working properly and I get constantly logged out when I try, for instance, to change the admin password or apply any change.

Network monitor is not working anymore, and lots of other things seems to be not ok.

When I flashed the latest firmware everything went smoothly but I noticed that the upgrade did actually erase the jffs partition completely.

I've flashed the firmware twice already and erased the nvram multiple times.

Initially everything seems to work fine... I can follow the guided installation procedure just to get the router up and running, but soon after, even applying minor changes, such as disabling the wifi antennas and adding a couple of static routes, the web interface becomes basically unresponsive and it starts kicking me out of the system... sometimes it even does it automatically without me clicking on any button.

Beside that, the router works... I mean, I experience no network problems etc... but I cannot further apply any change to the current configuration.

Anyone having the same issue out there?

I was under the impression that 378.56 or 65_2 had not been released for the RT-N66U because the source binary was not available (until yesterday at least).

Use the router's IP instead of a hostname. Some people are having issues when using a hostname, but I'm unable to reproduce the issue.

Yes,

using the IP the problem goes away.
Unfortunately not in my case: Administration - System & Apply = Logout! - even with IP address used!

I tested with Firefox 42 and Edge browser on Windows 10: Same result.

Anything I can do to debug it?

This is normal. Settings on that page affect the httpd server, so when that service gets restarted, you have to log back in.

As rmerlin has explained to me elsewhere, the N66U is now the only merlin supported model that has this issue - the jffs is created from space left in the flash after loading the firmware, any size change in firmware leads to resize of the jffs partition. Important for N66U users to copy anything off jffs before flashing firmware - and put back after re-enabling/reformatting and rebooting router.

I confirm that this bug is also present in the original asus firmware (3.0.0.4.378.9235).

I've contacted asus for technical support (bug fix).

After I've reported the bug to asus, they could reproduce it and therefore fix it in the latest release of the firmware (3.0.0.4.378.9313)

RMerlin)

Can you recompile the firmware using the latest source code when you have time?

Thanks!

I don't expect my next release to be ready for quite a few weeks. You will have to wait, or compile the firmware yourself using development code on Github, and deal with unfinished code.
