I am new...use small words
RT-N66U router purchased recently to replace dead Linksys WRT54G. I want to do several things:
1. Plug 1TB WD HD and 300GB Seagate HD into RT-N66U USB ports for wireless backup via router from PC and Mac respectively. (Mac gets the Seagate because I'm using Timemachine; no partitions planned. Just fill it and forget it.) On the PC I'm using SyncToy 2.0 to retain file structure.
2. Archive portion of data (300GB pics/videos) on 1TB HD to Amazon Glacier.
3. Read files (pics/vids mainly) from router attached HD's (both formatted FAT32) to PC/Mac/PS3.
4. Remain secure.
I have latest factory firmware.
Minor Victory so far:
- Through both the PS3, PC and Mac, I can see the 1TB WD drive (test) and can write to it from PC and Mac. This after enabling FTP share, password protected. Items 1 and 3, check.
Main problem, then - I cannot upload to Glacier. I have set up account (access keys; IAM rights; etc..); created vaults...ready to go. I do not code, so using FastGlacier or now CrossFTP to accomplish data pull from local 1TB HD to Amazon server.
FastGlacier sees the local network location (Top Level Folder on 1TB HD) and see Glacier account...but I can't drill into the local folder to extract the vault I want to create. From FastGlacier Perspective, it appears to be an empty folder. Dead end.
Try CrossFTP (because my network location is FTP share?), essentially same result. CrossFTP see the top level folder only.
I realize I am trying to do poor man's solution, I would really like Synology NAS...but have to make my current setup work.
Can anyone comment on a way to configure the RT-N66U, or use some other 3rd party software to enable data transfer from my USB attached HD to Amazon Glacier?
(By the way, last item 4...security...I was not too worried about. But I have read a few threads here and there seem to be some concerns using the FTP share/AiDisk/etc...I disabled all including FTP share and did a ShieldsUP scan. Passed with flying colors. But is this affected with any solution used for Glacier purposes?)
Thanks for any advice.
