New Around Here
So My daughter and I game and my wife starts watching Netflix and we lag, I recently upgraded my Internet to 90 Mbps to attempt to offset this problem. Upon doing a Internet Speed test I'm only getting 9-10 Mbps Down / 6-8 Mbps up on our wired gaming clients. I only have 2 iPads @ 5 Ghz and a Roku @ 2.4 Ghz that may use the wireless, but never have issues with them.

So I bypassed the router and direct wired my gaming rig into the Modem and the internet speed test was 96 Mbps down / 32-38 Mbps up.

So what am I doing wrong ?

Stock Firmware from box and I hear of all these people using this Merlin - any suggestions

Turn off QoS. With a 90Mb/s connection, you should not even need this turned on.

The firmware I recommend for the N66 is the 35-4 SDK5 merlin firmware. Its stable, reliable and has good performance, albeit some features are not working properly which you may or may not need to use.

If you had QoS enabled, make sure you didn't enter the connection rate as MBps instead of Mbps. That could explain why your tests are slower by a factor of 10.

Well I checked and QoS was off already, so that's not gonna be a factor.

I would think that at least the wired ethernet computers would have higher Mbps than 10.

I have not enabled the latest firmware although there is an update available via the Browser panel. That would be an official ASUS firmware though I'm guessing. I was lead to these forums through a Google search for slow internet test speeds specific to my ASUS router.

Not familiar with this Merlin Firmware, I'm assuming this is a open source product ? I will have to check these forums for what, and where I guess.

I'm maybe gonna do a Factory reset to the router and see if anything changes, prior to updating my Firmware.

Irrespective of your firmware version you should easily be getting 100Mbps+ on your wired connections. I do, on the same hardware as you.
