Can someone explain to my feeble brain why on an L2TP vpn connection I achieve 25mbps (my full comcast connection speed) but with openVPN I get 8-9 mbps. I understand the rt-n66 is limited by processor but I thought openvpn was a lighter weight protocol. Is the L2TP processing handled by another chipset in the router? I just dont get why the speed difference. Any help understanding would be appreciated.

Same problem. Tried a PC client and the results were just as dismal. Tried different routers and service providers none made any difference. Started a thread about this issue here
