RT-N66U micro sd card slot.

Ok.

Got it working somehow.

The card was labeled as microSDHC UHS-I 32GB.

My old cardreader did not accept it,
so I had to ssh into the RT-N66U and fdisk and format it as ext2.

At least I can now ftp to it and see some folders I created.

How can this be put to further use?

I can not get Download Manager to install.

Use it just like you would use a USB drive.

I use mine for Entware, tcpdump captures, assorted file storage, etc.

There is just one minor problem.

It is not recognized as USB Storage.

This is why I can not install Download Manager.

The ftp server seems to work.

I have not tried to upload files but I could log in and see some folders I created through the router gui.

I might try and install entware if I get around reading about it.

Thank you.

There should be no problem installing Download Manager, what errors do you get ? Does it get listed as mounted in the GUI ?

It shows up under USB Application - FTP Share.

Samba would also probably work,
but is currently switched to off.

I can not install Download Manager or Download Master,
it says "No USB disk detected".

My RT-N66U currently runs 3.0.0.4.378.50_0
I am not eager to install beta versions right now.

I can access the ftp share which is ok for me.
I might try installing entware some day or other.

Thanks.

Hi. I've got the same problem here. Can anyone tell how to properly mount sd card so the download master will recognize it? I'm running stock asuswrt 3.0.0.4.378_9459. Samba works. I can access folders on sd card via LAN and make changes. mount shows
/dev/sda1 on /tmp/mnt/sda1 type ext2 (rw,nodev,noatime)

thanks

I'm struggling with exactly the same issue. I can't get the download manager installer to recognise that there is a disk available.
mount shows the following:

rootfs on / type rootfs (rw)
/dev/root on / type squashfs (ro)
proc on /proc type proc (rw)
tmpfs on /tmp type tmpfs (rw)
devfs on /dev type tmpfs (rw,noatime)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw)
/dev/mtdblock4 on /jffs type jffs2 (rw,noatime)
usbfs on /proc/bus/usb type usbfs (rw)
/dev/sda1 on /tmp/mnt/sda1 type ext3 (rw,nodev,noatime,data=ordered)

Anyone make any progress with this?

Keep in mind that the MicroSD card slot is not very fast for reads and writes - depending on the card used, and some are better than others, but generally, one will see around 50Mbps at best...

It would be interesting to see if the slot is capable of making use of the higher speed media described here:
http://www.sdcard-speed-guide.articles.r-tt.com/

Actually this is more current:

because this is super cheap:

No. The reader is on the USB bus, and that model can't really break 17-20 MB/s on its USB interface.

Not even sure if the supplied driver would support SDXC - better off with smaller cards there.

There is some utility perhaps - use that to keep entware or optware packages, along with configuration backup.

Like I said, it would be interesting to see if the newer cards with larger capacity worked at the speeds they're capable of, but since @RMerlin straightened me with his last post, an onboard 8 or 16GB drive would free up a USB port for other things. we're talking about "hot-rodding" or optimizing a commodity router here, right?

I doubt it would be developed as the age of this device, and the number of devices that have this slot that has been deprecated by Asus in the mainline development...

It's a belly button item - exists, but of little purpose.
