There seems to be a mixture of success and failure stories so far regarding the stability of wireless with FW 3.0.0.4.260 compared to build 220 and 246. To get a clearer picture, I'd appreciate if people could take this poll. Thanks!

Wireless driver have alwas been troublemaker as there is many settings and environment to take care about. Some always looking at connection speed to evaluate connection performance and don't measure real up/down speed. I remember Toastman only change build number and people start reporting bad connection and stabilty issue. I'm using almost every function people reporting give bad stabilty with all manufactures wifi eqiupment with very good result. So how to test stability without any test standards is impossible in my opinion. New 6.0 wifi driver is new and untested so there is probably many setting and combinations to test.

octopus

I can`t vote because im on .220 and didn`t upgrade to .246 after Reading about the problems with .246. But now i`m going to flash to .260 as it seems much more stable and worth trying out. I could vote if there was a few more options like .220 to .260 it would be interesting to find that out to. Yesterday i was thinking of starting a new thread. But now as you have already started a poll it seems like an overkill.

I can't vote because I didn't flash 260, I'm on 246.19b. I only use Merlin versions.

The reason for this poll is to determine if the issues of build 246 have been fixed in build 260 - that's why other choices aren't available in the poll. Still, any feedback regarding the difference in stability between 220, 246 and 260 are welcome in this thread.

Can't answer the poll as phrased, but 220 (Merlin), 246 (ASUS and Merlin), and 252 (ASUS-only Beta) have all been stable for me. I haven't tried 260 yet, waiting for your version. I don't appear to be bothered by the instabilities that others have seen so far.

I'm the lone poll of unstable wireless in 246 & 260 as of this writing. Both firmwares exhibit the same connection flakeness. The clients disconnects then it doesn't want to connect. They are apple products(2 ipads, 5 various iPhones), one Atheros, one Broadcom laptops and a PS3. We have different wireless client brands that exhibits the instability so I believe the wireless drivers in 246/260 has a bug. However, why is it not consistent to many?
Going back to 220 or 19b or earlier firmware versions eliminates the shakey experience with 245/260.:(

My case is curious, with 246 I have not had any stability issues with wifi device, but with the 260 version I had problems with random disconnection and reconnection failures in my netbook HP (Broadcom 4313GN) and my Samsung Galaxy S2. But the connection has been stable as a rock in a ZTE V970 and a laptop equipped with Atheros, somewhat disconcerting.

Now I'm trying with the 246.19b version of Merlin and not a single problem, also seems to me solved my problems of lag (high ping) as in LAN with the 246 and 260 versions, thank Merlin, great job.

Have you guys had issues where you can't connect? Bought my N66U on Friday and was working great until today where I couldn't connect to the 5Ghz band and had to reset it.

Disapointed in my Asus n66u, the .220 FW was decent but the new .260 FW is a performance disapointment losing WiFi connectivity on devices at various times.

When I updated I did the WPS button reset, the FW recovery mode clear nvram and still disconnections.

Internet connection dhcp doesn't renew on the 64k versions every once in a while. Have to change the Mac address and reboot to reconnect to modem.

I went to 19b from Merlin. I read a post from RMerlin where Asus doesn't seem to feel there are issues with .260 fw, hope Asus looks deeper into it.

I don't recall writing that. In fact, I know for a fact that they are working with a newer wireless driver lately in an attempt to resolve various wifi stability issues.

upgraded to 3.0.0.4.260 and have constant disconnections when uploading, on the 5 Mhz band, to a USB disk attached to the router.
that is, uploading from my laptop to the router.

This is getting as bad as Cisco Linksys - I'm planning on staying on .220 until they release a more solid firmware version!

I upgraded to .260 a week or so ago and initially it was running OK. In the last couple of days, I started to run into random disconnect issues in the 5Ghz band. Looks like I might be giving the Merlin FW a try after all. Hate to go through all of the port forwarding set up on the router and have to set it all up again.
