Scan usb disk feature

Sorry for the dumb question, but I've searched all over the web and I couldn't find out what exactly this feature is. I suppose it isn't a real scandisk, because it takes only a few seconds. What does it do exactly? I mean the scan button that you find in the main UI.
Thanks.

It does a filesystem scan, so the speed will depend on the amount of data.

If you need a surface scan, you will have to plug it to a PC and run it from there.

Thanks RMerlin.
So, to make this clear, it should be able to detect the file/usbapps corruption caused by power faults, shouldn't it? Is it equivalent to the bash command "fsck"?

What about running "badblocks" via telnet? Or something else that could be run from the router itself, without detaching the disk?
Thanks.

Yes.

No idea what that command does. Don't mess with your valuable data, and use your PC if you need to do a surface scan.

It seems that command was added some time ago:
3.0.0.4.270.25
...
- FIXED: Added missing badblocks program
...

Unfortunately I can't try at the moment, because I'm not at home, but I guess it should work, if somebody wants to try.
