Setting up Transmission through Entware

Hi All:

I've been installing transmission and working all great but...

Again, after a router reboot, the config files just keep being overwritten and I have to manually go there to set up the open port and enable the download speed from:

    "speed-limit-down": 0, 
    "speed-limit-down-enabled": [COLOR="Red"]true[/COLOR],

(which doesn't download anything)

to

    "speed-limit-down": 0, 
    "speed-limit-down-enabled": [COLOR="Green"]false[/COLOR],

And yes, I closed the daemon before editing the file.
In fact, it works perfect when I stop the daemon, edit the file and then start the daemon, the problem happens when I restart the Asus.

This time I see no custom config file available to do the same trick as with the vsftpd (which worked to keep my custom settings):

After some more tests… something weird has happened with the SD card. While it looked like it was writing the data correctly to the SD, when rebooting the field and folders where unchanged.

Even tried to format the partition and no joy, so, all fault to the SD card. Waiting for another one to keep testing.

please help, transmission doesn't start at boot

Hello, I've followed the exact instructions to install transmission, but every time i reset the router (rt-ac66u) i have to manually start transmission, because it doesn't start automatically.
Is there anything I can do to solve this?
By the way, Linux is a perfect stranger to me

No joy...

I've set it up, but every time I try to access it, I get this error:

404: Not Found

Couldn't find Transmission's web interface files!

Users: to tell Transmission where to look, set the TRANSMISSION_WEB_HOME environment variable to the folder where the web interface's index.html is located.

Package Builders: to set a custom default at compile time, #define PACKAGE_DATA_DIR in libtransmission/platform.c or tweak tr_getClutchDir() by hand.



Any help?

I was also getting the same as rwnf

also if I installed entware using script all the command stopped working after reboot so opkg gave "opkg :: not found"

I have now installed the "old" way and command still work after reboot but going http://192.168.1.1:9091/transmission now gives browser not found. any suggestions? Im running 3.0.0.4.374.38 on rt-n66u

Remove asusware folder from usb disk and install entware & transmission again.

I have the same problem as sathees_t stopping Transmission. I installed it through Entware according to the instructions in the Wiki.

I'm have an AC66U running Merlin's 3.0.0.4.374.38_2. USB HDD was freshly formatted to ext3 before installing Transmission.

After router reboot, Transmission is no longer installed.

How did you format the drive? Did you use a linux system such as Ubuntu to do the format as ext3? If not you need to do that as I experienced not exact but similar silly issues when I used windows tools to do the job.

Yes, I used Lubuntu to format my drive, GParted to be exact.

I'll need to check whether Entware is still there, though I suspect it may not be. I have some time to play with this tonight so will try to redo the steps in the Wiki to see if I maybe missed something.

Reformatted my HDD and reconfigured JFFS, Entware and Transmission. I must have missed something because it works perfectly.

Yes I used this one before but for some reason stop command always return as "alive" and then "failed", then transmission crashed. It was working until I use "stop" command after everything was configured. I did several attempts to reinstall everything from scratch. Today I reinstalled firmware, restore to factory default, cleared Nvram, reformatted jffs, reformatted the HDD to ext 3, and installed transmission but again crashed when i used stop command after everything configured. I couild not figure out what went wrong with my settings. Below is the screen shot of what happened:

I could not have wan access to transmission at my work whenever transmission is working but ftp and router gui page are accessible. I did not have these issues with Optware. I prefer to use Entware as i can install other services like minidlna. Any idea what mistakes i make here?

umask should be 0
For ACCESS FROM WAN you have to add this rule to firewall-start script

Thanks for your help. I exactly did what you said. Wan access is working now!

Still stop command in Telnet causes transmission to crash, I had to reinstall it from the beginning. It is running fine unless I have to stop transmission to change the settings. I can live with that.

can somone school me a little on transmission ? I have a machine running utorrent, would transmission take he place of that ? what is the advantage of it over a utorrent running on a machine ?

You don't need to leave pc on to download torrents, you can access transmission from another place, like school, work... and another advantages, search on web.
