Settings restore

Apologies if this was asked and answered before (on my phone), but I want to do a fresh install of 376.49_5. Factory reset and re-enter all the settings, etc. I don't want to backup and restore since there is a couple small niggles I might restore. Is it possible to get the existing settings in a txt file or something else I can read? From memory, I think I read somewhere that this is not possible. Is that still the case? Was it ever?

taking pictures with your phone might be the easiest solution

I have never played around with scripts etc - this is new territory for me.

Yeah ... I know this method all too well ... it's a schleb isn't it!
Also the method of choice for me right now without a better alternative, but I will read up a bit on octopus' suggestion
