Significant degradation in USB performance

I have my RT-AC1900P doubling as a NAS by the use of a USB connected SSD. Since the last couple of firmware updates for the router, I notice the throughput has significantly degraded. I was able to get ~30 MBps read and write speeds. But now write speeds are about 7-8 MBps. But read speeds are truly terrible at 0.13 MBps.

This is measured connected via ethernet cable. I am currently running firmware 384.16. I have tried different hard drives. same issue. Also tried ext3, ext4, NTFS formatted drives. Same results.

Two questions:
1. Anyone else have a similar experience? Is this a possible bug in the new firmware.
2. I would like to downgrade to an older firmware. Is this allowed on the Merlin FW? I don't want to try and risk having to set up an otherwise perfectly working wireless network. Especially with the need to work from home these days.

How long have you been doing 'dirty' upgrades on this router for? :)

Possibly time for a full reset. :)

Please see the link in my signature for the M&M Config and Nuclear Reset guides along with other information to get your router/network back to a good/known state.

I can try that this weekend. But a full reset should be be required for something thats relatively newly set up. I previously had a RT-AC68U which ran flawlessly for 3-4 years. I don't recall ever doing a full reset on it.

7 months is not newly set up. :)

Many changes have happened since.

That fixed it. Thanks for your help.

Planning to do a full new configuration instead of restoring a backup of my old cfg and jffs.
