The currently recommended router is the RT-AX88U Pro.
You may find it can (easily) replace your current hodgepodge setup.
No matter which router you buy today (consumer-grade), you will need to spend some time to keep it operating functional, updated and secure.
If you want a hands off system, get yourself a commercial product with a service contract/license. Aruba, Cisco, etc.
I too would not spend any time on your current main router. The time to update and upgrade your equipment is long past due.
When you have a new main router ready, disconnect all other nodes you currently have. Update the RT-AC68U to the current firmware version (I recommend RMerlin), and perform a full reset. Then, use it as an AiMesh node, or better, a Media Bridge node for your far, wired capable, devices.
