So I've had my RT-N66U for about a week, and have mostly loved it. However I have noticed some serious slowness when streaming wirelessly via my Xbox 360. Movies/Tv Shows in Amazon, Netflix, Hulu never stream in HD like they did on my Apple Airport Express. I'm running on the 2.4ghz band wireless N with QOS disabled (nothing else streaming/downloading at the same time). The Xbox is about 8 feet away from the router

I'm also running WPA2-Personal authentication (same as my airport express).

The different firmware I've tested with is 3.0.0.3_112, 3.0.0.3_151, and 3.0.0.3_155.

I love this router for the range, but the slowness in streaming is pretty disappointing.

Any idea what I might be missing that needs to be checked??

Have you tried changing wireless channels? Cordless phones, neighbors, microwaves, etc can interfere. My guess would be the Airport used another less congested channel, thus had better throughput? Also, since you're using the 2.4ghz band, double check to see that the Asus is set to use 20mhz (and not 40mhz width), I've seen throughput fall drastically if the 40mhz width isn't clear.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but this is the only one I've found that similarly describes my issue. I don't use an Xbox, but I do have an Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray player with 802.11n (2.4 GHz) Wifi, located roughly 15 feet from my RT-N66U. When I stream even standard definition video from my wired PC running oShare (very lightweight DLNA server), I get smooth playback for maybe 5 minutes, then severe stuttering for roughly 30 seconds (video drops to less than 1 fps, no audio at all), then it recovers for another few minutes and the cycle continues.

This does not happen when my Blu-ray player is connected via Ethernet, though this is an inconvenient solution, and it did not happen over Wifi using my previous Netgear WNR3500 router (802.11n 2x2, 2.4 GHz). I live in a fairly 2.4 GHz Wifi-congested area, but using LAN Speed Test from a Wifi laptop to my wired PC I consistently get at least 50 Mbps in both directions on 2.4 GHz, which should be more than enough for standard definition video. Thus far I've tried specifying channels manually, toggling b/g Protection, playing with 20, 20/40, and 40 MHz modes, toggling Tx Burst, and toggling Enhanced Interference Management to no avail. The current state of my settings are Auto channel, b/g Protection off, 20 MHz, Tx Burst on, and Enhanced Interference Management on.

Any other ideas? Or anyone with similar experience which might give me hope this will be fixed in a firmware update?
