Hello,
I have a RT-AC66u with 3.0.0.4.374.33_beta1 Merlin firmware.
I have two computers connected: one of them via wireless using an Netgear A6200 AC adapter and another one via ethernet.
I am trying to send a large file from the computer on wireless to the one on ethernet and here is what I have experienced:
Connected to 2.4Ghz 801.11n - upload speed of around 96Mbits/s and remains constant.
Connected to 5Ghz 801.11ac - upload speed starts at around 23Mbits/s and slowly drops to about 12Mbits/s.
When downloading something directly from the router (via ftp using a USB stick connect to the router) the download speeds are as follows:
2.4 Ghz 801.11n - 90-100Mbits/s
5 Ghz 801.11ac - 104Mbits/s
I have no idea if this is something related to router, the firmware, the USB AC adapter or if it's just the fact that AC is not that great yet.
I have to say I'm not exactly pleased with the Netgear A6200 adapter and see no improvement on the AC network so wondering if I should just go for an RT-N66U instead which is slightly more powerful than the AC version from what I've read.
Any ideas what might be causing this and what to try to fix it?
