Hi, I have an RT-AC68U but have recently been noticing slow speeds and occasional connection drops. This is mainly on wireless, however even wired seemed to be a bit slower than usual when I tested it earlier

Currently on the latest stock firmware. Upload speeds have been fine, but my tests from earlier were initially 50 down on wired, 40 on 5Ghz and 32 on 2.4Ghz. I then got 30 on wired when testing again shortly after. 50 is what I expect when doing a test.

Sometimes the wireless channels become unusably slow for no reason, and will sometimes have no internet at all.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem?

Hello - ever since I upgraded my RT-AC68U to firmware version 3.0.0.4.382.18881 I had several issues such as losing WAN port to my ISP, Wi-Fi performance/range issues with signal cutting (losing SSIDs/wireless radios resetting), unresponsive GUI - all requiring several daily reboots of the router to get it back working.

After research, many people in the forums were having similar issues (RT-AC88U also affected with its latest firmware release). They reported rolling back to the June 2017 firmware version was fixing the issues.

I personally rolled back to June's firmware version 3.0.0.4.380.7743 - which was reported as the most stable version by many people - and router has been rock solid since.

Good luck!

Hi, would this be the case for the third party firmware versions, e.g. Merlin etc? Would changing to one of those solve the issue?
