New Around Here
Looking for a new NAS for my business. Currently we are using a Maxtor Shared Storage , which gets shared between two Apple iMacs.

Budget is no more than $450 and after reading data sheets on different NAS boxs, I have narrowed it down between the Netgear ReadyNAS NV+, Iomega STORCENTER ix2-200 2TB and the Synology Disk Station DS210j.

Wanted to know if anyone owns either one of these NAS boxes, are they quiet? Is the performance quick.
My business is in Graphic and Web design, so I need a box that is quick as I have some fairly large files and loads of photos.

Any of those will be a big step up in performance and features from the MSS.

How much storage do you need for $450 and do you have a NAS backup already?

My MSS is 500Gb's which is nearly full.
I'm looking for a NAS that has a minimum of 1TB, would like to be able to upgrade the drives to a higher capacity in the future.
yes I do have NAS backup, I would like the new NAS to be able to use Time Machine.

You can get 2 TB in a single drive NAS and will soon be able to get 3 TB. No need to go with RAID.

The NV+ is the slowest of the three and noisiest.

Between the Iomega and Synology, I'd go with the Synology. You can't upgrade the drives in the Iomega.
