I have a rt-ac3200 with smart connect

Am I right in thinking the merlin firmware has this back ported for the ac68u from the 3200 and others? A bonus over the stock fw?

Merlin's firmware is Asus Stock plus Merlin add-ons and bugfixes which Asus sometimes has not yet (or will not) apply - as described in the Merlin's mission statement here and here.

yes I understand that and an very appreciative of what has been done. Rather than mission this was just a simple question about whether smart connect (albeit just between 2.4 and a single 5 band) had been added to the 68u. Asus don't have it in there but I though thought I'd read somewhere it was in merlin.

It is of course in the rt3200 and Asus ships it there too.

I've pulled the source but need to spend some time looking through it

It's tied to the SDK that is used for each router.....and the SDK for the 68U doesn't support Smart Connect. ASUS would have to migrate to the newer SDK first (with all the associated closed source drivers) first. In other words, don't waste your time.

Thanks for confirming that. I do have a 3200 and the smart connect is interesting ... I need to post to the other thread on tuning it but wanted to check as was still in the post purchase procrastinating phase (sorry)
