SNMP net interface numbers changed after reboot (RT-AC66U using PRTG)

I'm trying to get PRTG working with my RT-AC66U. But I've stumbled across a small problem.

I enabled SNMP on my RT-AC66U, and installed PRTG on my Windows workstation. I had configured everything and made sure it was working like I wanted.

But when I later rebooted my RT-AC66U, I got error messages in PRTG on a bunch of things saying "No Such Name (SNMP error # 2)".

After closer inspection I see that the "Interface number" has changed on several of the targets.

14:eth1 has become 3:eth1
15:eth2 has become 4:eth2
16:wl0.1 has become 7:wl0.1

So my question is:
Was this a one time thing, as I had enabled SNMP without rebooting... or will this keep happening?

(Or is this caused by changing various other settings in the router, and then not rebooting?)

That is a simple test for you to try, right?

Sigh.

I'm asking if this is a one time happening. Or if this might happen again in like a month. What causes the interface numbers to change? It's not easy to test if the issue occurs at really long intervals, and I really don't know what's causing it.

Since SNMP has only recently been added and enabled, I don't think you'll find any long term info on this?

I also see your question as unique right now, so that is why I suggested you do this testing yourself.

Maybe others can give a better answer.
