Lots on discount on Amazon from Beelink and GMKTek. I could post links, but I'd rather this site get the affiliate link instead.

I found a few with dual 2.5gb NIC's and 32GB of RAM for the low $300's.

I would not want internet exposure with any fly by the pants BIOS.

I don't think mini-PCs breathe enough anyway so I would want a larger PC. Dell or HP or something.

Many of the Shenzen based MiniPC folks are trying to get ahead of potential impacts of US political issues with proposed tariffs...

Some good deals to be had perhaps - but just remember, it's not a box you're buying, but also ongoing support.

For learning purposes I would rather get an used i5/i7 SFF Dell/HP/Lenovo PC and add the expansion needed. They are bigger and use more power, but allow modifications, extremely reliable and can be found under $100 off eBay. Beelink, GMKtec, TrigKey, MeLE, etc... thanks.

I was just checking those Banana models out. Seems pretty cool.

I was even contemplating to use them as a nas. Some time ago, I looked into these embedded cpus and I was impressed. Which doesn't happen very often. I am planning to get their WIFI 7 router and use it as an access point. Another application I was thinking to use the wifi7 router board was a managed switch since the main board can be purchased by itself.

I did that for some time. Currently I'm running an old AMD FX that popped a couple of cores in itself so its running 4 out of the 6 cores.

I came across this and got them because they are cheaper to build up and already hardware configured for 10G networking. Just have to put an aftermarket heat sink and get a power supply that has a big enough 5VSB, which isn't hard these days since ATX3.0 power supplies have a big enough standby power. The other hurdle is putting it into a case since its deep as an extended ATX, but its only 4 slots wide like a micro-atx board.

That super micro system isn't very expensive without storage. Thank you for showing me that!

I'm having a lot of fun on that website. There's so much to look at and drool over.

That is what I plan to cross grade into and update to 10G. I'm still bouncing ideas about taking the 1U case with hotswap bays and making a nas with a bannana pi board. Probably could shorten it too since the drive bay section in the front is just riveted onto a standard 1U 22inch depth case.

I delt with those guys for years. They were the go to in the Dallas IT swap meets long ago.

Yeah there's definitely some products they have that I would like to trade my gaming PC for in a heartbeat

If you just want to play with it and learn - don't invest heavily in hardware. You may like it or not, over time your priorities may change... but you can't get your money back. Use what you already have or get cheaper off-lease PC with expansion options, add a cheap Gigabit NIC, experiment with different router OS available and only when you have decided for sure what you want - get proper hardware, smaller size and more power efficient, with proper NICs for the speed/performance you are after.
