Did I miss the step you actually downgraded to .276?
If you did not yet, please DO downgrade to .276.
Later firmware versions do have issues with 5 GHz and/or range issue with 2.4 GHz. Reports vary though for all those versions that use the SDK6 driver.
For me .276 works fine and also the latest 3.0.0.4.374.979 works fine, everything in between was crap for me, either for 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. Looking at different posts, the experiences differ for individuals (probably depending on the actual personal situation).
Most stable working for everyone seems to be .276.
Follow those steps:
-Downgrade to .276 firmware.
-Hard reset the router by holding the reset button over 10 seconds.
-Reconfigure the router manual (do NOT install a backup config file).
And my advise start with a configuration as basic as possible, only set the bare minimum:
-Wireless encryption WPA2 Personal AES.
-5 GHz everything Auto and 20/40 MHz.
-2.4 GHz set to 20 MHz and the rest Auto.
