New Around Here
I have a Sonos system consisting of a Playbar+Sub+2xPlay1 as Surrounds in my living room + 1x Play 1 in the kitchen & 1x Play 3 upstairs. The Playbar is wired to the router.

Everything works great on 378.50 however if I upgrade to 378.51 the audio keeps cutting out so bad it is impossible to listen to whenever I stream music. If I watch streamed video the sound on that also cuts out but not as often. It doesn't matter whether I stream from a network drive or over the internet. I tried a factory reset on the router but it made no difference.

I've seen some posts on the Sonos that mention turning off 5Ghz Wifi. Tried that and got the same problem.

I then tried the latest Asus firmware and got exactly the same even after a factory reset. Downgraded back to 378.50 and everything works fine.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Many thanks

Sean

You forgot to mention what router model you are using.

Hi,

I am running 7 Sonos devices without any router problems (for a long time). Sonos is creating their own WLAN mesh network (or using your WLAN in the newer software version - your choice!).
My configuration puts Sonos on Channel 1 (you can only choose 1, 6 and 11) and I am on their own mesh network.

I always upgrade Sonos to the latest version (system and controler on all client devices).
In case of issues I disconnect all Sonos devices from power and re-connect one-by-one with a delay of serveral minutes between them. Then things always work again as they should.

With kind regards
Joe

I have my RT-AC66U running on merlin 378.51, with 7 Sonos devices working flawless. Have you tried to redo the Wireless Setup from the Controller?
Also, you can acces the devices over the LAN and look at endless data if you like. It may help you troubleshoot your issue.
Some of the pages accessable are: (where <sonos_ip> is one of your Sonos device IP)

This is great info, many thanks. I shall try an upgrade again later and see if I can glean any extra info from this that can help me.
