Does anyone know of an Asus WiFi6 router model (probably one where Merlin has tweaked the firmware) that is capable of indexing a large (42k tracks - approx 400gb) S2 Sonos external drive successfully and is capable of utilising two XT8 nodes with 5ghz backhaul as an AiMesh?

I use Sonos in Sonosnet so have no problems with WiFi connections.

The XT8 steadfastly refuse to undertake the indexing using the SMB1 USB available no matter what ASUS firmware I try.

I have had to dig out my trusty Merlin RT-N66u to make things work!!

Sure enough after purchasing a GT-AX11000 and trying to index the library it failed. Uploaded Merlin's firmware and hey presto it indexed ok. What is the magic difference between ASUS and Merlin's SMB1 implementation?
