strange connection issues

Hi,
I recently upgraded to RT-AX86U-Pro from RT-AC68U, but i have been encountering all sorts of strange issues mainly with wi-fi connections to my devices.
The last issue i am dealing with is one of my devices (an ipad) refuses to connect to the 2.4 GHz SSID with the password saved in it's memory (incorrect password) error!
however, when i try to connect to guest network SSID with same device, it does successfully connect with the IP 192.168.101.211....
Strange thing is...my LAN IP is 192.168.50.1, so all my other devices get IP's from this DHCP server pool (192.168.50.2 to 192.168.50.254)...why is this device using 192.168.101.211?
tried disabling auto DHCP and enter the IP manually, with the IP# this device always connected (192.168.50.137) but it would not connect manually either...

one other thing i do not understand is, on my network map>connected clients> wired list, i can see a fifth connection (i did post about this recently and i was suggested this is a bug in the software and it could be a previously connected device) well, since then, i have discovered what this connected device is...
My internet connection is a WDSL....i have a MikroTic device on my roof receiving signal from ISP and the cable coming from MikroTic goes into WAN port (blue) but i do not remember this showing up on my network map>connected clients> wired list before! why it shows up now i have no idea...

my RT-AX86U-Pro is on Merlin Firmware: 3004.388.8_4

If using Guest Network, try using Guest Network #2 rather than Guest Network #1 and see if that fixes the IP address issue (192.168.101.x).

To confirm, when you upgraded from the RT-AC68U to a RT-AX86U Pro, you didn't import a router.cfg file from the RT-AC68U into the R-AX86U Pro, correct? You manually configured the RT-AX86U Pro from scratch?

Do a forum search for iPad, some have indicated issues with Apple products connecting to WiFi on Asus routers. Its possible one of those past discussions may have additional suggestions.

Are you running any add-on scripts?
Are you using AiMesh or AP nodes?

Standard troubleshooting steps, if you haven't tried them already.
Do not use special characters in WiFi SSID's or passwords. Use numbers and letters only, no spaces or underscores.
Try setting a specific WiFI channel rather than letting the router automatically select one.
Disable Smart Connect and use separate unique WiFi SSID's.
If the iPad supports connecting to 5Ghz, connect to that band rather than 2.4Ghz.
Last resort, do a hard factory reset then a manual basic configuration without enabling Guest Network, then try connecting the iPad to the main WiFi.

...why is this device using 192.168.101.211?
Because that's the address range of the first 2.4GHz guest network when Access Intranet is disabled.

Is this part of a dual WAN setup perhaps?

I tried enabling all three guest networks and test them all....after connecting,
guest network 1 was given 192.168.101.211 (internet connection established)
guest network 2 was given 192.168.5.239 (no internet connection)
guest network 3 was given 192.168.5.240 (no internet connection)

When i upgraded from RT-AC68U to a RT-AX86U Pro i did a fresh install..no router.cfg imported.

I am not running any scripts now, but couple of weeks ago i did set up Diversion (Ad-Blocker) but i was not pleased with it, so i uninstalled it and then did a to factory default reset.

I am not using Are you using AiMesh or AP nodes.

I am not using special characters in WiFi SSID's or passwords. only numbers and letters, no spaces or underscores now, but for years, my passwords did have special characters.

I have wi-fi auto channel selection disabled...i sometimes use channel 6 or 11

Smart Connect, i had tried once and disabled after it gave me issues on some devices...(i did factory reset after disabling it to be sure)

I had also tried connecting to 5GHz but result was same...

You were correct....when Access Intranet is disabled the IP is from 192.168.101.2 - 192.168.101.254 range and internet works
BUT when i enable Access Intranet, Guest network takes IP from 192.168.5.2 - 192.168.5.254 range and devices connected have no internet..

Dual Wan is not enabled....I am using one ISP at the moment..

It should be 192.168.50.x not 192.168.5.x unless you have changed the defaults. Check it under LAN - LAN IP > IP Address. If that doesn't say 192.168.5.1 then it appears that you are connecting to another AP or router close by.

I know it should be 192.168.50.X that's how it was before, but for some reason my wifi devices now get 192.168.5.X and they are not connected to any other AP or router nearby..
I have full signal on them but IP range is 192.168.5.X....there are no other AP's nearby...My house is out of town, in a remote location..

Check the address at LAN - LAN IP > IP Address.

In your original post you said "all my other devices get IP's from this DHCP server pool (192.168.50.2 to 192.168.50.254)". No mention of 192.168.5.x. Is this perhaps the DHCP IP address range of your MikroTik device?

that is what i initially thought myself, because it used to be in that range before (192.168.50.X) but it was not a problem for me when using RT-AC68U as that was in 192.168.1.X range
So when i changed to RT-AX86U-Pro, i was relieved to see new router used 192.168.50.X range...

RT-AX86U-Pro shows MikroTik, WAN IP as 192.168.254.252 and Gateway 192.168.254.254..

My ISP recently did some major changes in their system, so my Public IP changed also...that must be when MikroTik's IP changed from 192.168.50.X range...

Can you post pictures of your WAN - Dual WAN and System Log - Routing Table pages please.
after my last post, I switched off the power to RT-AX86U-Pro for 10 mins then switched it back on AND wholla, wi-fi devices started connecting to 192.168.50.X range again..
that's all i did...power off for 10 mins, then back on...I did not change any setting!! how does one explain that? 🤔

I still believe you have/had a conflicting DHCP server connected to your LAN in some way. That would explain the random nature of the problem.

that is out of the question, as all my devices connecting to 192.168.5.X range had full power and as previously explained, i live in a non residential location, away from any other possible DHCP server....
also, when i switched off power to the router all my devices which connected to 192.168.5.X DHCP server lost their connection!
