suggest a Wifi/ethernet printer ?

Not a problem with the printer crowding the other wifi devices at my place...it's is the only 2.4GHz. device I have left, so it has lots of elbow room *smile*.

they actually do use 5Ghz too. A lot of printers are either abg, bg, bgn and abgn wifi. The a is on 5ghz. Even than trying to connect on the crowded 2.4Ghz? You're probably going to have printer issues from time to time.

Okay, I give up, I'll yield to your superior knowledge about my printer. Has also worked perfectly with AirPrint and Cloud Print from mobile devices. Haven't had wifi problems in the last year, but if you insist, maybe in the next year I'll have problems *smile*.

I've been using a Samsung CLP-315W colour laser printer for over 6 years and it's been pretty good. It was pretty cheap.

It supports all the standard protocols, raw, lpr, IPP, etc. so there are no compatibility issues. I've always used it wirelessly even though it only supports 2.4GHz 802.11g! It's never caused any problems with my wireless network, probably because it spends 99% of it's time in sleep mode. Even when printing it only takes a few seconds to receive the data so if that causes a slowdown of my network I'd never notice it.

If this was an office environment where the printer is in continuous use it would probably be better to use the wired connection. YMMV

Just one more comment on the Epson WF-4630 wifi printer, I ran into the receipt the other day when I was cleaning my desk off. Turns out that I've had it for more than 2 years (I orginally said 1 year) with no wifi problems. What this says about my housekeeping (2-year old receipts on my desk *smile*) is a whole other thing, though. But the wifi on the printer has been solid, no problem.

At some point the thing will die, and then, yes, I'll have wifi problems with it *smile*.

Been there - still there - and still haven't cleared the desk on the home office :D

I'm a retired service tech and have had many printers over the years.
When you look at the cost of ink/toner per page a ink jet printer is the most costly to own especially color.
In my experience both as a service rep and a home user ink jet printers are also the most troublesome and ink drying in the cartridges is common if you use them intermittently.
When looking at laser printers check what supplies are needed and what they cost.
I have a HP LJ Pro 400 color with duplex printing that fills my needs perfectly using wired Ethernet but it also has USB interfaces.
Back to supplies, it uses 4 cartridges that can be had new in generic brands, refilled at a cost savings or genuine HP cartridges.
Yes it's slightly above your $200 price tag bit in my mind is worth the difference.
