Suggestion for a home wlan netowrk

Hello,

I need some help in finding the best solution to the problem that I have on my wlan network.

On the mansard of my house (2nd floor) I have the PC and DSL/WLAN router (http://www.avm.de/en/Produkte/FRITZBox/FRITZ_Box_Fon_WLAN_7390/index.php).
On the ground floor I have a weak or absent wlan signal, and there is located a satellite decoder (Humax iCordHD, it has a 10/100 port) that I would like to connect to the PC.

Unfortunately there is not possible to run ethernet cables from the 2nd floor to the ground floor, and the house is of concrete/stone.
The distance between the PC / router to the center of ground floor is about 10-15m and there is a couple of thick walls in between.

I could place a "wlan device" in the 1st floor, about in the middle of the distance between the router and the satellite decoder.

I was thinking at disable the wlan of the Fritzbox and buy a dedicated wlan router because after trying with a repeater (http://www.avm.de/en/Produkte/FRITZ_WLAN/FRITZ_WLAN_Repeater_300E/index.php) and a powerline device (http://www.avm.de/en/Produkte/FRITZPowerline/FRITZPowerline_500E/index.php) the results were very negative...

I was thinking at buying two ASUS RT-AC66U (or N66U) and place them, one on the 2nd floor as a "main" wlan router and the second on the ground floor as a AP, near the sat. decoder.
Could it be a suitable solution ?

Another thought is to place the second RT-AC66U on the first floor and buy a EA-N66 to connect the sat. decoder on the ground floor.

Could it be possible to make such a network ?
Any suggestion ?
Thanks

Can you try powerline adapters? With your house construction you are going to have problems with any wireless.

Another option is a pair of outdoor bridge/antenna combinations mounted outside. Like EnGenius ENH500.

Hello !
Thank you for the help.
I will definitely do it with powerline adapters.
I tried with AVM Powerline 500, and didnt work....but that was due to the fact they were defected.
I changed them and now they run beautifully !
I placed three devices, one on each floor.
I connected the sat. decoder and I have a transfer speed of 6MB/s, and that's enough.
For the wlan coverage, now I must decide which router (or access point) to buy.
In any case I would like to use the Fritzbox 7390 DSL/WLAN router only for the DSL.
Any suggestion as a quality N wlan device ? (not necessarily ASUS)
Thanks.

Thanks for reporting back. I'm glad powerline worked for you.

I don't have any recommendation on N routers/APs. Consult the Router and Wireless Charts to compare performance.
