Planning to give my kids a first laptop for xmas, of course Mumimo as my access point (UniFi ACHD) provides mumimo. Any suggestions are welcome, as i am unable to find these on the market for <500usd?

One MU-MIMO device provides no benefit. You need at least two.
Good luck finding any laptop supporting MU-MIMO, let alone one for under $500.

They're starting to show up on the low-end laptops - replacing the older single stream 2.4GHz single band cards.

Examples? 1x1 or 2x2?

The super low end stuff (sub $400 range) - Lenovo 320 and similar from Dell, HP, Acer, etc... Big, Heavy, full keyboards and usually the 1366*768 screens - slow HDD's, maybe a DVD - they sell a shedload of them because they look nice.

The example I saw at the local big-box store - the built-in NIC was a QCA single stream AC with MU and BT4.1 combo chip

Personally - at that pricepoint - one can get a chromebook and be better off - my little n22 sub-$250 chromebook actually has an intel 7265 2*2 ac NIC..

For 500 bucks you'll be lucky if it has a N300 card.

yep... I tend to follow the 1K+ window...

Dell's XPS13/15 is a good bet, along with Apple's MacBook Pro 13/15, HP has done some great work with their ZBook Workstations on the high-end

Gamer Laptops - Razor seems to be a good bet for thin/light - the Asus ROG's are going to be what they are - big/heavy/fast/ugly - watch out there, MSI has a "mid-range" gamerbook, and it's a single stream dual band card there - Intel 3168...

GamerBooks are like the dead-spider BHR'a - folks pay a premium for style perhaps...
