Suggestions for NAS for Business

dbarkley

New Around Here
I am looking at purchasing a NAS for our business and I am looking for some recommendations.
The NAS will be for 3 basic uses.
1. File Storage
2. FTP Access
3. Share Filed Access

I am really concerned about #3 as my company has a lot of Microsoft Access Databases that are shared and possibly opened by more than one person at a time. I am getting the impression that NAS devices do not handle databases reliably.

I am looking to see if a NAS would be a good fit and which ones would be recommended. One that I have been leaning towards is the ReadyNAS Pro6 but again, not sure if it will work well with shared databases.

Any budget range? i believe there are dozens of NASes on the market which can meet your requirements. Maybe narrow down the choices from price.

Is your Access DB separated into a back-end and a front-end? Most folks seem to recommend doing so to avoid race conditions and corruption.

Another choice is to use iSCSI capable NAS, that way you'll be talking to a Windows box that front-ends the access db.
