Hi there,
I have two concerns:
1.) Due to a major network problem (see point2) I thought my rooter (RT-AC 68U) might have a hadware failiure. So I changed to a new one and did an update to the most recend Asus FW. As I tried to load the last Merlin FW the System told me that that not possible due to the new policies. Is there any chance for me to get back to Merlin?

2.) As I said I do have big networking problems which started 4 days ago with connection problems on just one LAN device. Meanwhile all of my devices are affected. I don't get any Intenet connection via IPv4 at all. IPv6 workes on one device?! WAN connection is established! The gui has kind of strange behaviour too. Sometimes when I click on "wireless" it opens this "amazonawas.com" page intead of the lokal. Also happens with other pages. I don't see this behaviour if I cut the WAN connection!
This all happend with the "old" and the new rooter the same way.
I really don't have any idea what to do!
Is it possible that the rooter is affected by that worl-wide TR 069 attack?
Anybody out there with similar problems?

I'm very thankful for any help. I'm really desperately!!!

greeting

Holger

I would start from there , this is not normal.Clean your browser cache, scan your pc for viruses and malwares
Try with different browsers

This Problem occurs on the PC via LAN as also on the IPAD via WLAN. Virus scan has been done without any detection.

-I don't get any Intenet connection via IPv4 at all. IPv6 workes on one device
With a new router you got a new IP. Power off the router, unplug the modem and wait 5 mins, replug the modem wait a few mins and power on the router
Will try that this afternoon.

Flashing:
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/bkfq2a6aebq68/Asuswrt-Merlin#qc4e5xc252czd
Try :
remove usb drive hooked
1- Reboot,flash
..dont work?
Try a full reset:
Turn off the router, press and hold the WPS button , then turn on the router. Wait about 10 seconds, then release the WPS button and wait 3 min.
Enter Gui(with ip, 192.168.1.1, not the router name) , do a minimal config and then retry flashing with 380.63_2
* dont import old settings *

No USB drive connected. I guess the message I got (something like: Due to the new safety policies...) is caused by the new ASUS FW preventing to flash third party FW. I tried to flash via the restoration tool but this steps up to 98% and then fails.

What is the fw version you are now and how is your internet without the router?

Can't try Internet without the router (I guess). I'm using fiber wire (FTTH) which has a own modem. I don't know if I can hook this up directly to a switch or even LAN Adapter?!
Firmware 3.0.0.4.380.3831

Meanwhile I managed to install the latest Merlin FW (just with the normal update function within the guy?!). THis resolved most of the Problems. Internet connection is back on most devices. Exept my "working horse" PC. Sadly this one further states to have no internet connection. The symbol in the tray shows a yellow !. The network center shows no connection for IPv4 and IPv6 (which is off). WWW works. Firewall is offline (probably due to the missing connection).
I tried everything to solve this problem locally on that computer (including DISM, SFC, rollback to an earlier system restore,...). Nothing helped. Even if this Problem occurs just on one computer I'm not sure anymore if this problem might be causes by the router?!

Anybody an idea on that Problem?

btw: This problem occured first time after the last window update?!

Try resetting your TCP/IP stack. From an elevated permission prompt:

Code:
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Then reboot the PC.

Didn't work. Same Problem. I really don't know what to do next. Today I upgraded from 380.63 to 380.63_1. Afterwards no connection on any devcice to the WAN. Switching back to 380.63. Same result. Restoring factory defaults results to work for all clients exept this PC (meaning the Internet connection in the tray, WWW is working!). Something very strange is happening here and I don't know how to solve. My ISP is telling me on their side everything is working fine.

- On the troublesome PC, make sure the connection type is set to Private/Home and not Public (Win10 likes to change this on it's own)
- Temporarily disable the Windows Firewall (If this works, reset the firewall to it's defaults)
- Make sure the adapter connection settings are set to DHCP for address and DNS on the windows adapter properties
-Under Edge, Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings, make sure nothing is checked.
- Make sure you aren't running any Win10 tracking blocker (it can block the site that is pinged to set the status of the internet connection icon)

Might be time for a malware scan then. Scan with Malwarebytes antimalware and Hitman Pro, my usual one-two punch combo.

Hi there,

I finally made it. Even if I'm not really a friend of those AIO repair suites I gave it a try usin Tweaking.com Windows repair. That solved the problem on this PC. The program generated a log file but I can't figure out what the problem was.
Anyways the PC is in normal condition again. Right now I'm running FW 380.63 on the Asus RT-AC68U. As the last update to 380.63_2 lead to a complete loss of the Internet connection I will leave it on 380.63.

Thanks for all the help!

btw: MBAM and Hitman didn't find any malware.

The Problem with update to 380.63_2 is solved too. Since several FW I recognized that after a reoot The router is starting VPN connetion 2 (which was disabled before the reboot). This connection is not working so after the update I had no connection the Internet. Manually switching the VPN off solved this. Is the start of the VPN a known bug or is this a matter of configuration?
