Synology 216j with Single Disk

nheather

Occasional Visitor
Some beginners questions.

Can I begin with a 216j with just one disk?

Then a a later date could I add another disk and set it up as a separate volume.

Not really interested in RAID.

And would this be sensible or would this be a poor way to set it up, or a waste, paying for functionality that I don't want.

Cheers,

Nigel

You'll be fine - just make sure that the NAS box is included in your backup strategy - this has long term benefits as your needs grow and you might want at some point to add the second disk...
