Synology 412+, Plex Server, Chromecast...

Hi,

I wondered if anyone can advise me, I'm totally lost! After hours of research I thought I had finally found the solution, but now i'm unsure and really after some advice?

I plan to buy a Synology 412+, use this to store my Music, Files and Movies, install Plex Media Server on it and use my ChromeCast to play Movies on the TV (being controller by the IOS App).

Essentially I already have this in place, but without the NAS as I use my Laptop as the Storage Device instead.

Am I approaching this correctly and will it work? Really appreciate any help or advice.

I have a similar set up but use my roku without problem. It was a great decision.

I can say don't buy more than a 2 bay because of RAID. Backup is needed, RAID or not. I don't use / need RAID. It'll take a long time to outgrow a 2 or 4TB drive pair, one backing up the other as a separate volume, not in RAID. But I'm not a movie ripper either. I have a bunch, never watched a 2nd time!
