The DS3018xs, Synology’s first six-bay NAS, is powered by a Pentium D1508 dual core 2.2 GHz CPU (boosts up to 2.6 GHz), and 8 GB DDR4 ECC RAM that’s upgradable up to 32 GB. Storage expansion for the DS3018xs tops out to 30 drives when paired with two of Synology’s DX1215 expansion units. Other interfaces include three USB 3.0 ports, two expansion slots and four GbE ports. Additionally, the DS3018xs comes with a PCIe 3.0 slot that can be used to add an SSD cache card or upgrade to faster 10GbE networking.

DS918+, DS718+ and DS218+ form Synology’s new Plus series of NAS products using Intel CPUs, DDR3 memory, and all three support H.265/H.264 transcoding (DS918+ and DS718+ support two channels).

The DS918+ is a four-bay unit using an Intel Celeron J3455 1.5 GHz (boosts to 2.3 GHz) quad core CPU, is scalable to 8 GB RAM, and supports up to nine drives using Synology’s DX517 expansion unit. Other interfaces include two USB 3.0 ports, one eSATA port, and two GbE network ports.

DS718+ is a two-bay model that also uses an Intel Celeron J3455 1.5 GHz (boosts to 2.3 GHz) quad core CPU, but scales up to 6 GB RAM. Using a Synology DX517, the DS718+ can support up to seven drives. Interfaces includes two USB 3.0 ports, two GbE ports, and one eSATA port.

The last of the three Plus series is the DS218+, another two-bay model, powered by an Intel Celeron J3355 2.0 dual core processor (boosts too 2.5 GHz), comes with 2 GB RAM that’s expandable to 6 GB. The DS218+ comes with three USB 3.0 ports, one GbE port, and an eSATA port.

The DS418 is a four-bay member of Synology’s Value series that supports H.265 4K transcoding. The DS418 uses Realtek’s RTD1296 1.4 GHz quad core CPU, 2 GB DDR4 RAM and includes two USB 3.0 ports and two GbE ports.

There was no word on availability, but for more information on Synology's DS3018xs, DS918+, DS718+, DS218+, and DS418, be sure to visit their respective webpages.
