New Around Here
Hi! I have an old buffalo linkstation, and Im thinking about an update.

I cant decide between those two.

For me are important:

Good torrent support (firefox integration, easy to add to queue)
Transfer speed form the NAS to my PC (for DVD-backup)

I like the lower power usage and fanless operation of the Qnap.
The fanbase and community support of synology looks to me a bit better than from Qnap

What do you think? Fanboys here? :D

Thanks!!!

Well, as a Synology fanboy I can say that that the torrent download works pretty well on DS109 although has a habit of hanging the device when a huge torrent is being downloaded at a high speed. The web interface works fine in FireFox, and the download queue is quite easy to manage.

Unfortunately the only thing I can compare in practice is the web interface (judging from the QNAP's online demo) and the one by Synology looks much prettier and clean to me. But QNAP's software, if I understand correctly, provides a couple of useful features which are not provided by Synology yet.
