New Around Here
trying to register on this board took up ca 1 hour. Your system sent me to my email to confirm which then sent me back to your board said "oop we cant confirm your email" I retried for 6 times over an hour and eventually your system woke up and confirmed my email (I dont have problems with this otherwise). Then you said I had to wait for admin approval another hour. I was ready to give up repetedly having to ctupr photo fit thaat I was a real person

Will other potential noobs have this kind of patience? I only wanted to thank a member for his valuable advice - I could just have stayed as a visitor

Worst of all this board is stonewalled as there is no contact to mail the #admin of my problem

I have noticed the last 2 times I was automatically logged out by the forum and forced to login again with 2 factor email authentication, it is very slow. I ended up trying several times before giving up. Suddenly, around 15 minutes later I starting getting the codes via email. Of course none of them worked until I received the last code so you end up waiting until you get that.

I hardly ever get this type of careless web mismanagement anywhere else . I wonder how many noobs they have lost from joining who just gave up with this level of annoyance
I was minutes away from binning the whole thing. All this obsessive security checking - its not the Federal Reserve - its 600 nerdie members (with valuable info if its your bag). Thinking again and trying to be charitable - it may be an issue with the site management https://xenforo.com/, I cant imagine any IT guy putting up with this rubbish otherwise? what do you think?

The forum software was updated recently, there may be some remaining glitches and missed/new settings options. Don't get upset, report your experience and the forum administrator @thiggins will fix it if needed. We had a recent discussion about some small issues after the update, all fixed now.

My assumption was that it's to keep people from signing up quickly, and possibly with multiple accounts, to spam. I don't mind, though it was a bit frustrating the first time.

@robintes Sorry for your frustration. Unfortunately, all registrations are held for moderation due to spammers. Just yesterday I had about 12 registrations from spammers that were blocked.
The contact form is also disabled due to being taken over by spammers. There is an email contact in the Terms and rules link in the footer.

Hi Tim I cant claim any understanding of running a Board like this and the problems you have with abuse. Somewhere you have a topic where you asked for suggestions - so May I suggest you get a trusted lay person friend to help by trying to sign up and register on your board. I dont know if its country specific - I am in UK, or email specific - I use @protonmail (which has enhanced encryption end to end). If you get stuck I can offer to help by acting as a dumb new registrant and post copies of all steps/times or whatever? as they occur. I think you site offers a valuable info/hub for a confusing topic of Asus/Merlin/linksys but I am an amateur and IP systems leave me in a fog mostly - I just want to use them reliably. Be a pity to tarnish you image right from the start
Cheers
