The benefits of this f/w over stock are difficult to enumerate there are so many.

I've participated in many groups for many different things online, jeez even many different router firmwares, and I've not seen any under the stewardship and programming knowledge of a guy that knows what he's doing like this, and that moves this fast in the direction of progress, always fresh updates, great descriptions, and great engagement.

This firmware doesn't have the downsides that the mega huge DD-WRT and all it's forks and sub builds and back and forth have, and I like it! That's fine with me!

I think it's amazing how active RMerlin is here in the forums, and even posts his twitter, etc. in his sig. I've privately emailed him once (before I joined these forums) and he wrote me back a detailed response within a day or two. This is really amazing work by a guy who asks for nothing in return from us (except maybe to test new features! :) ).

Since he seems to be *so* super nice and doing this just as a fan who also knows the value of a vibrant online community, sharing knowledge and resources, etc., I thought I would just mention that on his webpage

http://www.lostrealm.ca/tower/node/79

about halfway down on the left hand side is a PayPal link where you can send him a couple bucks just to say "hey, thanks . .. you made my router better, you awesome stranger from the internet!" ;)

Also you can PayPal him directly at rmerl@lostrealm.ca.

He doesn't even mention that in his signature on here! So, whatever, I thought I'd speak out on behalf of those of us who really appreciate his hard work and that he doesn't even ask for a dime (even his PayPal donate button is labeled "thank you gifts"), that's just downright Canadian classy modesty!

Thanks Merlin!
