New Around Here
I currently am running the tried and true Linksys WRT54GL rev 1.1 with DD-WRT v24 SP1.
while i love it and it is still rock solid, im looking for more speed. especially as my area is saturated with other 802.11g APs while the majority of wireless devices owned by me now support 802.11n. I also want my wired machines to utilize a gigabit wired connection as it will make my large backups between my various desktops faster
With all of the top tier routers by linksys, netgear, dlink, i cant make up my mind as to which would suite me best so i've come asking for help based on my following criteria:
support 802.11g/n simultaneously (looking for best throughput too. both in mixed mode or native N mode)
come with Gigabit onboard NICs
support DD-WRT firmware. ive grown fond of this and its features. if the oem firmware on a recommended router has all of the features this has then i might be persuaded otherwise. Primarily Dnsmasq so that i can have it act as a basic dns/dhcp server.
usage: wired/wireless gaming (pc, xbox, etc). audio/video streaming from multiple devices simultaneously (both internal traffic and external traffic).
connected devices: 3 wired desktops, 1 wireless desktop (long story), ipad, blackberry, droid, 3 laptops, xbox, ps3, wii.
budget: ~$100-$150
right now its been a toss up in my head between the Linksys E3000 and the netgear wndr 3700. the netgear seems to perform better, but has the occasional wireless death from what ive read.
thanks in advance for any advice you can give.
