/tmp - is that in RAM?

My understanding so far is that /tmp is placed in RAM. In a normal unix box /tmp is part of swap area and/or in RAM. How is it in the Asus routers? Placed in RAM?

Yep, in RAM - was discussed recently due to a logging issue which filled the RAM - therefore you have always a good amount of "free RAM" to cover /tmp needs. ;)

Good - then I can use it for two files that keep track of users connected to Wifi - if the files are deleted at reboot makes no difference - I just need two files to run "touch" on or remove (the files are flags so to speak to indicate status for two different processes/scripts).
