Traditional QOS, what is the default class?

hi,

I’m new to ASUS routers. I’m trying to set up traditional QOS, and I’m a little confused. If I make a few rules that cover most of my traffic, what happens to the traffic not covered by an explicit rule? What is the fallback default rule?

Or should my final rule simply cover all traffic so I can set a default?

Also, is there anyway to reorder the rules, or do I have to delete then and reenter?

Thanks. I’ve been reading up on that script.

With traditional qos fixed, I’m inclined to start simple with a qos rule to prioritize the Ooma as highest, the bit torrent client as lowest, and hope the rest falls into a default. I just need to know what that default is.

If I need to us JRs script to get there, I will. I was just hoping to keep it simple.

P.s., I’ll be installing the Merlin firmware soon (after a family trip next week).

Default class is defined by the qos_default nvram setting, which by default I believe is "lowest".

Now to figure out what "3" means

Trial and error leads me to this conclusion:

highest = 0
high = 1
medium = 2
low = 3
lowest = 4

low = 3 (default)
lowest = 4
