Traffic monitor log incomplete

New Around Here
Hello everyone,

I know RT-AC3100 is no longer supported, but I have an issue and was wondering if there could be an easy fix. I have an issue with my traffic analyser statistic. It has no memory. I only see the last 1-2 hours of activity of my clients, before that : just a flat line/no activity (even for online clients). Things I've done so far with no success :
  • Reboot
  • Downgraded the firmware from 386.14.2 to 386.14.0
  • Change traffic history location from RAM (default) to external USB with a reset data file. It's a FAT32 (because I'm using both mac and PC), as I think the RT doesn't support exFAT. I see the files on the drive (tomato.rstats.XXX.GZ), but can't seem to read any data on both MacOS and Windows. I'm supposed to see it in the Web UI of the RT ? When I extract the files : I get an unix.exe file ?
  • Read from other threads : using SSH access, tried deleting folders from /jffs/.sys (AiProtectionMonitor/TrafficAnalyzer/WBL/WebHistory). Not sure the coding was done right, but didn't get any error message from PowerShell.
  • Internal storage doesn't seem to be saturated : NVRAM 88298/131072 and JFFS 5/64 Mb.
  • Haven't tried to set location file to NVRAM though
Could it be an hardware issue ? Flash memory of RT damaged ? How to read data from the USB drive

Rest of RT working fine and doing the job. But Traffic Stats is still useful to have (I like to have an overlook of time and usage of device for my teens)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Gets me smarter every single time !

THX

Greg

Could it be an hardware issue ?

This is a software issue of unknown Trend Micro engine origin, it was reported by users, I've seen it on RT-AC68U variant with similar CPU like in your router (RT-AC1900P, 1.4GHz). Latest stock firmware works well on it and Traffic Analyzer doesn't reset every 1-2 hours. I would try Asuswrt-Merlin 386.13 on it. The latest 386.14 versions were built on top of never used in official firmware GPL.
