Hi everyone,

I have an RT-AC87U with Merlin's Asus firmware (I am about to update from v380.62_1 to the latest). I am usually quite prompt in upgrading but last year ran away from me a little, hence why I'm a few versions out. I know i will have to do a few step upgrades inbetween as I am more than 3 versions out.

Anyway - I wanted to ask how and if the TrendMicro anti virus software that's baked in to these routers, is updated at each new firmware release. Or is it communicating with TrendMicro all the time to keep itself fully updated etc....or is that too much of a perfect solution!? I never see this topic in any readme docs which is why I am asking.

Would be grateful for any info on that-
thank you kindly!

There is no TrendMicro AntiVirus baked in... it's a DPI solution to check if the site access is within a permitted category. You still need independant A/V solution.

TrendMicro downloads "signatures" automatically. You can see which version you have on the Administrator, firmware update page. Mine is 1.142
