I don't ever recommend using a saved backup config file. Unless you're restoring an older firmware with a direct backup of that configuration too.

Almost. Don't put any setting back in unless you know 1) what it does, and 2) why you need it.A good practice, is take a screen shot of everything and input everything manually from scratch.
