Now that I think of it, a USB3 isn't going to offer any benefits in my system...I only have USB2. Maybe I should consider a computer update first. Is there really any benefit to going USB3 over USB2?
I've been looking at the Asus USB-AC53 which i can get for $33cdn (w/$10 rebate, which I won't use). Far cheaper than the other options.
I just saw this on Newegg for a pretty good price and bought one shipped to my parents. PCIe WiFi
I bought them a new Dell which is still in the box at their house. They are waiting for my Christmas visit so I can set it up.
They only use web, email. My mom loves Solitaire.
congratulations, i'm also working on 'option 4' this year. i'm actually reusing some old socket 1366 stuff, though + usb3 pcie. i sold off my computer last year after changing to a mobo with better OC-abilitiy, but that also meant a new case and i ended up getting a new PSU for it, too.
This left me with my lian-li pc-v351b case, an x58m mobo, an 850w corsair psu and a corsair h50 to collect dust.
so, gonna snag an old i7 920,
maybe an ssd such as; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2W00ZD1391
3x8gb (probably 1600, as i don't intend to OC beyond like 3.6ghz this time around) and a gpu;
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130933 (because i am an nvidia fanboi, by and large)
and also, a gt430 i had installed in my acer slim died 2 days ago, so going to snag something like; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129271
there were low profile sapphire 7750s until somewhat recently, guess those are gone now.
exciting stuff, can't wait
[edit/] forgot to mention, i'll be getting a pretty new Asus Xonar soundcard
