It's updated firmware on a new ERLite-3 I recently purchased.
Since that review was almost 4 years ago, the ERLite-3 design may have changed. I don't know.

You think that makes no sense you should try and configure a cloudkey,router, and switch....

Just expressing my frustrations over the weekend, trying to setup a USG Pro with a Pace Gateway.
Even the simplified USG lineup is convoluted. I had an easier time with the ERL.

Hardware hasn't changed. Software has improved.

USG Pro is almost identical hardware to ERPro but has gimped GUI in the form of the UNIFI controller, but what you can do is export the configuration to txt, import that config into an ERL, modify it to be what you really want it to be, export it again, and re-import the final configuration back into the USG. You can't see the config of the USG locally, but it will apply the configuration as you defined/modified it on the ERL.
Many people with USG Pro-4 models use ERL as config editors.... used ones are cheap on ebay.

Also:
Rumor is a full hardware refresh is coming late 2018, so the current product line has some life left.

for @thiggins out the box config is important as that is what most snb website traffic will do as many just dont have the skills we do in configuring routers optimally. Mikrotik also has an effective out of the box config too. It would be nice to see the rb750Gxr3 benchmarked with the CDNrouter for both speed, security and features.

Not anytime soon. I am using it to test a new HTTP-based router throughput test method, similar to Ars' router rumble.

Thanks. I've finally gotten around to playing with my ERL-3 which I bought a little while ago. Ultra simple config at the moment - but the way Australian internet is heading, I may need to configure to handle a VOIP service. This will be my learning curve!

Im curious to which ones you plan to benchmark. The rb9xx with mini PCIe slot will let you change out the wifi cards. If i could replicate the CDNrouter's capabilities on linux i could benchmark my CCR that i have over here.
