Yes, a Merlin vairiant -- another variable here. DNS Director erroring out should not be happening.

So if unbound is detecting I don't have DNS Filter enabled, but DNS Filter was renamed to DNS Director and that's what's preventing me from installing, how do I go about fixing that?

Open an issue with Gnuton concerning the 404 error?

  1. Go to https://routeraddress/DNSDirector.asp.
  2. Enable DNS Director.
  3. Set Global Redirection to "Router".

Anddddddd....that was the fix. TYSM!

Router Configuration recommended pre-reqs status:

[✔] Swapfile=10485756 kB
[✔] DNS Filter=ON
[✔] DNS Filter=ROUTER
[✔] WAN: Use local caching DNS server as system resolver=NO
[✔] Entware NTP server 'S77ntpd' is running
[✔] Enable DNS Rebind protection=NO
[✔] Enable DNSSEC support=NO

Options:

INSTALLing unbound
Entware package list successfully updated

Please don't forget to update and close issues with Gnuton and unbound.

@Martineau Since this has a workaround it might be in your interest to mark this on your git projects main page as an installation troubleshoot. I’ve marked the open issue with the solution.

or..... patch the script to refer to 'DNS Director' rather than 'DNS Filter' and display the correct URL as appropriate for firmware v388.xx

I've created a new open issue: https://github.com/MartineauUK/Unbound-Asuswrt-Merlin/issues/27

Not sure if anyone checks the github issues list or SNB more.

Many thanks for reporting the issue.

Unbound_manager v3.24

Version: v3.24
Github md5=62bac054973b3c5cc918807f80d5c9d6

Use option u when v3.24 is shown as available in either amtm

7 open unbound Mgr v3.24 <- v3.23

or unbound_manager

u = Update (Major) unbound_manager v3.23 -> v3.24

Replied to the github commit, will reply here.

YOU ARE AWESOME for coming out with a hotfix so quickly! Thank you!

There’s really no reason for DNS Filter/Director or a local NTP Server to be a soft requirement for installing Unbound. It creates false panic. Definitely not an ***ERROR.

Also, “Wan: Use local caching DNS server as system resolver” is going away in the newer firmwares.

That is true if we are talking about the newer BE models.. I don't think RMerlin is going to launch a mirco-release for the older models at this point. Supporting the older models has its own set of problems currently:

When all is said and done, I can only imagine what all will need to be adjusted for in the scripting world. e.g.

- NEW: Added dnsmasq-INDEX.conf.add and stubby-INDEX.yml.add,
which are appended to SDN config files (INDEX = SDN
index number)
- NEW: Added dnsmasq-sdn.postconf and stubby-sdn.postconf.
They take two arguments:
- path to the config file for that SDN's instance
- the SDN index number (1 for the first SDN instance)
